Punch & Die (User Stamp) in Sheet Metal Design

In user stamp, we need to model Punch, Die and the sheet metal (Face of a sheet metal) in different parts.


1). click on Sheet metal parameters.


2). Define the parameters and click OK.


3). First create a sheet metal in generative sheet metal design. Sketch - Draw the profile (e.g. in xy plane) - Exit the sketcher.


4). By using Wall command convert the sketch to a wall. Notice that the direction of the arrow should be upwards.




5). Next stage is to create Punch model. To do this we need to go to Part Design workbench.


6). Then from Insert menu select Body.


7). Rename Body.2 to Punch.

8). Click on Sketch and select zx plane. And draw the punch profile.


9). By using Shaft, the punch model is completed.



10). Next stage is to create Die model. So from Insert menu click on Body. And rename the Body.3 to Die.


11). Again click on sketch and select zx plane. First make the drawing from Punch model visible.


12). By offseting all the edges of the Punch profile (2mm, thickness of the sheet), you will be able to create the Die profile. Always remember that the distance between die and punch profile is equal to the thickness of the sheet and also the die sits under the bottom surface of the sheet.




13). Exit the sketcher, and by using shaft command complete the Die model.


14). After completing Die and Punch models return to Generative sheet metal design wotkbench. Activate the sheet metal body. Right click on the part body and select Define In Work Object.


15). Click on user stamp from Stamping toolbar and select the top face of the sheet metal.


16). User-Defined Stamp Definition window appears.


17). In type section select with die and respectively select punch and die from specification tree.


18). After selecting punch and die from specification tree, select Position on context option and click OK.


19). The sheet is formed in shape of punch and die.
